Functional and Female Urology
Functional and Female Urology addresses complex pathologies that affect the quality of life of patients, such as urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunctions and pelvic floor disorders. This rotation program offers high-level observational training, focused on the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of these pathologies, with a multidisciplinary and personalized approach.
Program Objectives
- To know the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, voiding dysfunction and prolapse.
- To observe surgical techniques such as sling, meshing, neuromodulation and functional reconstructive surgery.
- Participate in urodynamic evaluation and clinical decision making.
- Integrate into a multidisciplinary team with a patient-centered approach.
- Attend clinical sessions and training activities specific to the area.
- Training in advanced robotic surgery in Functional Urology: POP surgery, female artificial urinary sphincter and robotic surgery for chronic pelvic pain.
Duration
Up to 3 months, adapting to the participant's availability and training objectives, in order to guarantee a personalized experience of high academic value.

Program Content
The program is structured to provide an intensive, observational clinical experience, with the following focus:
- Outpatient:Clinical diagnosis, functional tests and follow-up.
- Functional and female surgery: Sling, meshes, neuromodulation, cystoplasties and reconstruction.
- Urodynamic studies: Interpretation and clinical application.
- Clinical sessions:Complex cases, literature review and update on functional techniques.
Methodology
The program is based on practical and immersive training, focused on direct observation of real clinical cases. Participants accompany our specialists in their daily activities, both in the office and in the operating room, integrating themselves into the team's daily flow of care.
This case observationmethodology consists of:
- Observation in specialized consultation, including functional exploration, urodynamic studies and therapeutic planning.
- Operating room assistancein functional and reconstructive procedures.
- Participation in clinical sessions, discussion of cases and review of guidelines.
- Multidisciplinary approach, with interaction with gynecology, pelvic floor physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
The approach is designed to offer arealistic, personalized and clinically valuable training experience, tailored to the level and objectives of the rotating professional.
Requirements
- Maximum duration: 3 months.
- Places are limited according to availability in each specialty.
- Application at least 4 months in advance.
- Active involvementwith a health institution during the rotation.
