Uro-Oncology

Uro-Oncology is one of the most complex and dynamic areas of modern urology. This rotation program offers high-level clinical and surgical experience in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of urological tumors, with special attention to the integration of open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. The program is aimed at professionals in training who wish to deepen their knowledge in the comprehensive oncological management of the urological patient.

Program Objectives

  • To observe the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to the main urological tumors: prostate, bladder, kidney and testicle.
  • Assist in complex surgical procedures, including robotic and laparoscopic surgery.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical sessions and oncology committees.
  • To understand oncologic follow-up and individualized therapeutic decision making.
  • To become familiar with clinical protocols and international guidelines in uro-oncology.

Duration

Up to 3 months, adapting to the participant's availability and training objectives, in order to guarantee a personalized experience of high academic value.

Program Content

The program is structured to provide an intensive, observational clinical experience, with the following focus:

  • Outpatient:Clinical evaluation, interpretation of imaging tests and biopsies, therapeutic planning.
  • Oncological surgery:Prostatectomy, cystectomy, nephrectomy, lymphadenectomy and testicular surgery.
  • Oncologic follow-up:postoperative control, active surveillance and management of recurrences.
  • Clinical sessions:Complex cases, literature review and update on clinical guidelines.

Methodology

The program is based on practical and immersive training , focused ondirect observation of real clinical cases. Participants accompany our specialists in their daily activities, both in the office and in the operating room, integrating themselves into the team's daily flow of care.

Thiscase observationmethodology consists of:

  • Observation in specialized consultation, including diagnosis, staging and therapeutic planning.
  • Operating room assistance in open, laparoscopic and robotic oncologic surgery.
  • Participation in oncology committees, clinical sessions and case discussions.
  • Multidisciplinary approach, with interaction with medical oncology, radiotherapy, pathological anatomy and radiology.

The approach is designed to offer arealistic, personalized and clinically valuable training experience, tailored to the level and objectives of the rotating professional.

 

Requirements

  • Maximum duration: 3 months.
  • Places are limitedaccording to availability in each specialty.
  • Application at least 4 months in advance.
  • Active involvementwith a health institution during the rotation.
